House of México: The cultural bastion reconnecting Mexico and California from Balboa Park

In the heart of Balboa Park, specifically within the International Cottages complex, stands House of México (HOM). This non-profit organization has established a strategic physical presence to promote Mexican identity in the United States. After years of effort, the association now operates from its own "casita," a space dedicated to sharing, educating, and celebrating Mexico's artistic and historical wealth with San Diego residents and international tourists.

Under the presidency of Julio Ramos, the organization's fundamental mission is to serve the community through ongoing programs reflecting Mexican heritage. Key objectives include cultural outreach to promote Mexican art and history through immersive experiences, binational strengthening to build bridges of understanding between Mexico and the U.S., positioning San Diego as a vital meeting hub, and educational support through scholarship programs to strengthen the community's academic development.

Collaboration Networks and Editorial Platform

House of México operates through a network of alliances, including figures like Joe Barba Caudillo, a specialist in migrant community support. Furthermore, the organization has expanded its reach through "México en Balboa" magazine, edited by Conny Aguirre, which serves as a printed record of the stories and destinations defining Mexican culture abroad.

Presence and Sustainability

Located at 2188 E. Pan American Rd., House of México is sustained by an annual membership system, tax-deductible donations, and sponsorships. These funds support both the physical infrastructure in Balboa Park and a diverse event calendar, ranging from Mexican Heritage Nights with the San Diego Gulls to monthly general assemblies for its members.
