-The city is solidifying its logistics vocation with the PRODECOBI project, ushering in a new era of regional development and social well-being.
-Celaya is leveraging its rail infrastructure and strategic location to become a pillar of national economic growth.
-With a long-term vision, the “Logistics Gateway of the Bajío” project seeks to reduce poverty and spark sustainable investment in the southern part of the city.
Dear readers of Vínculo Empresarial, It is a pleasure to meet you once again through these pages, this time returning to the topic of our city’s logistical significance. For years, we’ve all heard complaints—locals and visitors alike—about the trains that pass through Celaya.
Today, however, the very fact that trains intersect our city is becoming the cornerstone of major development. It is the reason Celaya has now been chosen as a “Pole of Economic Development for Well-Being” (PRODECOBI), a project set to unfold in the southern zone of the city through the Logistics Gateway of the Bajío.
For years, business leaders have supported this project, previously known simply as the “Dry Port.” In a study conducted by AEC and the state government, its importance and the benefits it will bring to the community—along with its substantial social impact—became undeniably clear.
According to the study, within ten years of the Logistics Gateway's implementation, 23,000 people will rise out of poverty. While currently 5.1% of the population lives in poverty, this figure is expected to decrease to just 0.58% within a decade.
This alone is one of the most compelling reasons to make this project a reality. And the great news from just a few days ago—our Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo signing a Letter of Intent with the federal government—makes it official. Soon, we will see this dream materialize.
All of this should fill us with pride and satisfaction. At last, a project that has been in the works for years—promoted and carefully managed—is coming to life, and it will bring significant competitive advantages to Celaya, our region, and the state.
My friends, one of our greatest strengths as Celayenses is our tenacity and perseverance. These qualities define us and, very soon, they will bear fruit. In these pages, you’ll continue learning more about this project—which I believe to be deeply important.
We must prepare ourselves for what’s ahead. As Jorge Cuevas, “El Buscalocos,” once said during a workshop:
“When opportunity comes, either you ride the wave—or it crashes over you.”
Well, this project is a tsunami, and we all need to ride it so its benefits can reach every corner of the city. This development will transform Celaya—especially its southern region.
Finally, Celaya’s competitive advantages will be fully harnessed, earning it a prominent role nationwide: the best city to invest in, and to live in—a city driven by citizens who work hard and persist tirelessly in their mission to make Celaya the logistics heart of the country. Before long, we’ll hear:
“From Celaya to the world.”
Let us all feel proud of this moment. Together, we will write this new chapter in Celaya’s economic story—and soon, the transformation will be real.
Let’s be active agents of change. Let’s build the future of Celaya—together.
